Systematic review

A systematic review aims to identify, evaluate, and summarise the findings of all relevant individual studies meeting pre-specified inclusion criteria to answer a research question. Systematic reviews are literature reviews conducted using a systematic approach which is transparent and replicable.

The key steps in conducting a systematic review are:

  • Interpreting the findings

Systematic reviews are central to evidence-based medicine and increasingly inform healthcare decision-making around the world. At DRG Abacus, we have extensive experience in all aspects of systematic review, from defining research questions and developing comprehensive search strategies, through to the assessment and analysis of the data. We have large sub-teams who specialise in the design and implementation of clinical, health technology assessment (HTA), health economics, quality of life (QoL), and epidemiology systematic reviews. For the epidemiology reviews, our analysts work in close collaboration with our epidemiology experts, who conduct bespoke analyses across a range of indications.

Our multi-disciplinary team of systematic review analysts, statisticians, and medical writers has a proven track record in the design, conduct, and communication of systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses. Attention-to-detail and accuracy underpin all that we do. We use industry-standard techniques and approaches to ensure we minimise errors and get it ‘right first time’; to this end, we have developed customised systematic review software to manage our review data and ensure quality. In addition, all of our reviews conform to the current Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

To ensure we continue to be up-to-date with regulatory requirements and evolving systematic review and network meta-analysis methodology, our team of analysts conduct research and develop innovative thought-leadership projects. For each project, our findings are either published in peer-reviewed journals or presented at relevant conferences.
